Good morning, dear friends! One of the recipes that you have asked us so many times to make is the homemade applesauce. So here you are! We present it to you today! Applesauce is a great egg replacer in vegan desserts (1 egg= 1/4 cup apple sauce). Other egg substitutes are: flaxseed (1 Tbsp flaxsedd+ 3 Tbsp water=1 egg) , chia seeds ( 1 Tbsp chia seeds + 1/3 cup water= 1 egg, stir and allow to sit for10-15 minutes), banana (1/2 mashed ripe banana =1 egg), peanut butter ( 3 Tbsp peanut butter = 1 egg). I haven’t used sugar in my apple sauce. Sugar gives sweetness and works as a conservative, so this apple sauce doesn’t keep well for a long time! Store it in a hot container in the fridge for a week. Make and use it in one of our recipes.
Happy Thursday, friends!
Ingredients (for 1,5 cup applesauce):
4 cups apples
1 cup water
juice from one medium sized orange or lemon
Peel and core apples. Cut apples into cubes. Add all ingredients to a pot on low heat until the apples have softened significantly (for 20 minutes). Mash with a food mill. If you want, add 1Tbsp cinnamon or/and 1tsp nutmeg. Store in airtight container in the fridge.
